Looking at existence of God logically (Pascal’s wager)
Either:
God is real. Given evidences then Jesus is real, heaven is real and hell is real. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. We need to ask forgiveness for our sins and obey His rules. When we die we will go to heaven, a place of eternal reward and happiness. If we do not except Him, we will go to hell, a place of eternal damnation and suffering.
Or:
There is no God, no Jesus, no heaven, and no hell. In our life we can do whatever we want morally (there is no punishment or reward in another life). Government may provide rules to follow, but we can lie, cheat, or steal as long as we don’t get caught. When we die, we just cease to exist.
Logically there is a God or there is no God. Let us look to the latter. If there is no God, then I am wrong. For all my good living there is no eternal reward. I will have lived with a false peace. I will have lived with a false contentment based on a lie. I will have lost out on very little. My false hope has made my life easier not harder. I have lived part of my life with following God. It was a miserable time in my life. Sinning may be fun for the moment but there are consequences to sins in this life. Not involving myself in drinking, drugs, immoral sexuality, cheating lying, and stealing has made my life easier not harder. If I don’t lie, I don’t have to worry about being caught in a lie. I do not have to worry about the repercussion of any of these issues catching up with me. And when I die, I die having lived a better life because I believed. I will have gain in my life by believing even if I’m wrong. I believe that my life as a believer has been a better life that as a non-believer even if the no believer was right about the existence of God.
But what if I am right. The unbeliever has lived with out the direction, security, and hope that the Christian life gives. The unbeliever drifts through life with no purpose except to please himself and at the end will have in anguish for eternity. The unbeliever will have missed the blessings of heaven. The unbeliever will have missed out on the hope and security of an eternal future. The unbeliever will have missed the fellowship with God not only in this lifetime, but for eternity.
Logically it make all sense to believe God exists. It is like making a bet that if you are right the bet is off, but if I am right I gain immensely and you owe everything for eternity. Who logically would take that bet?
